Man Utd handed Tchouameni boost - Friday's gossip

Manchester United are reportedly making another attempt to sign Real Madrid midfielder Aurélien Tchouaméni during the current summer transfer window. This renewed interest comes after an earlier approach was not successful. The club is looking to reinforce its midfield following Casemiro’s move to Inter Miami in the United States.

Tchouaméni, a 26-year-old France defensive midfielder, was previously expected to remain at Real Madrid, even nearing a contract extension. However, Manchester United has once again inquired about his availability. He is considered a key option for the club as they seek a specialist defensive midfielder to fill the void left by Casemiro. His profile is noted for being a young player capable of anchoring the midfield and providing balance to the team.

Midfield Reinforcements and Alternatives

While André Santos and Youri Tielemans have joined Manchester United, their playing style leans more towards attack. In contrast, Tchouaméni is seen as a natural defensive midfielder, fitting the specific requirement for the team. However, securing his transfer is anticipated to be a challenging task.

Beyond Tchouaméni, Manchester United is also considering other midfield options. These include 25-year-old France midfielder Manu Kone from AS Roma and 22-year-old Cameroon international Carlos Baleba from Brighton. Additionally, 27-year-old United States midfielder Tyler Adams from Bournemouth, valued at approximately £35m, is also an option for the team.

Meanwhile, Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) has reportedly expressed disinterest in selling Warren Zaïre-Emery to Manchester United this summer. PSG aims to maintain its current midfield core. Reports indicate that Zaïre-Emery was high on Manchester United’s midfield wish list, with the club reportedly prepared to offer €60 million (£51m). However, PSG is unwilling to let go of any of its leading midfielders, including Zaïre-Emery, whose current deal extends until 2029.

Other transfer activities include Arsenal targeting former Manchester City defender John Stones, 32, and 28-year-old Ezri Konsa of Aston Villa, following an injury to France defender William Saliba, 25. Chelsea is reportedly the favourite to sign 18-year-old Bosnia-Herzegovina attacking midfielder Kerim Alajbegovic from Bayer Leverkusen. Chelsea has also reached an agreement to sign 15-year-old American winger Benji Flowers from Major League Soccer side FC Dallas when he turns 18.

Arsenal and Manchester City are among the clubs vying for Ivory Coast winger Yan Diomande from RB Leipzig, a player for whom Liverpool previously made a £69m bid. Liverpool and England Under-20 defender Amara Nallo, 19, is set to join Finnish club HJK Helsinki on a season-long loan. Celtic and Japan striker Daizen Maeda, 28, is scheduled for a medical on Friday to finalise his £10m transfer to Ipswich Town.

Leeds United’s English winger Jack Harrison, 29, is reportedly close to a move to MLS side New England Revolution. Everton is interested in Celtic’s Alistair Johnston, 27, who impressed at the World Cup. Aston Villa is reportedly interested in signing 25-year-old Everton and England midfielder James Garner this summer. Manchester City boss Enzo Maresca remains keen on signing Argentina midfielder Enzo Fernandez, 25, and France full-back Malo Gusto, 23, from his former club Chelsea.

Manchester United has been tracking Zaïre-Emery since he was 17.
