VAHAN 4.0: New Registration Delays for Vehicle Owners in Telangana

The transition to the VAHAN 4.0 portal has left new vehicle owners in Telangana grappling with delays in permanent registration numbers.

New vehicle buyers in Telangana are facing significant delays in receiving permanent registration numbers due to the shift to the VAHAN 4.0 portal. Previously, vehicle owners expected a smooth transition into digital vehicle services, but the reality has been quite different.

The decisive moment came when officials began implementing the VAHAN portal in phases. Out of 89,392 applications, only 79,000 vehicles have received their permanent registrations online. This rollout was intended to maintain system stability but has resulted in unexpected technical glitches.

The direct effects of these delays are profound. Vehicle dealers now find themselves issuing temporary registrations while customers await their permanent numbers. Additionally, after receiving these numbers, dealers must install High Security Registration Plates (HSRPs), which adds another layer of complexity.

Experts have pointed out that while the online fancy number system is a step towards improved transparency and fairness for vehicle owners, these technical issues present a significant hurdle. Officials from the Transport Department have stated they are actively working to resolve these issues and expect normalcy soon.

Despite the phased rollout aiming to prevent disruptions for vehicle owners, many still feel frustrated by the wait. The situation raises questions about how well such digital transitions can be managed without causing inconvenience to everyday citizens.

As vehicle registration processes gradually stabilize, it remains uncertain how long these delays will last or what further complications might arise as officials continue to address the technical glitches plaguing the VAHAN system.
