Noida International Airport is set to become a major gateway for passengers and cargo in North India, with operations commencing on 15 June 2026. This ambitious project is among the largest greenfield airport initiatives in India.

The airport will begin commercial flight operations with IndiGo operating the first flight. Developed through a Public-Private Partnership, the first phase of Noida International Airport has attracted an investment of around 11,200 crore rupees.

Initially, the airport will handle 12 million passengers per annum. However, plans are in place to scale its capacity up to 70 million passengers per annum upon full development. This expansion reflects the growing demand for air travel in the region.

The facility aims to connect the greater Delhi area and Western Uttar Pradesh with various cities both within India and globally. The commencement of services follows the inauguration by Prime Minister Narendra Modi and approval for the Aerodrome Security Programme from the Bureau of Civil Aviation Security.

Observers note that this development will not only enhance passenger convenience but also boost economic activities through improved cargo services. Yet, some uncertainties linger regarding timelines for subsequent phases and operational specifics.
