Indian cricketers have seen considerable movement in the latest ICC Men’s T20I Batting Rankings, with Vaibhav Sooryavanshi and Ishan Kishan making notable advancements. Sooryavanshi, a 15-year-old talent, has achieved a career-best rating, while Kishan has ascended to the top position in the T20I batting charts.
Sooryavanshi’s impressive start to his international career was highlighted by his performance in India’s 3-0 series sweep over Zimbabwe in Harare. He was named Player of the Series, accumulating 151 runs at an average of 50.33. These exploits led to a substantial rise of 230 places, positioning him at 48th in the T20I batting rankings.
Ishan Kishan now leads the T20I batting rankings with 910 points. His ascent included a career-high rating of 916 points after scoring 81 in the second match against Zimbabwe. This rating places him as the third-highest T20I batter ever, behind Abhishek Sharma (931 rating points) and England’s Dawid Malan (919). Kishan’s career-best rating also surpasses those of other accomplished Indian players like Suryakumar Yadav (912) and Virat Kohli (909).
Notable Movements in T20I Rankings
Beyond Sooryavanshi and Kishan, other Indian white-ball stars also registered gains in the updated rankings. Tilak Varma moved up two rungs to sixth position among T20I batters, while Shreyas Iyer climbed seven places to 24th.
In the T20I bowling category, Ravi Bishnoi made a significant leap, rising 31 spots to 41st after securing three wickets during the Zimbabwe series. These performances underscore a strong showing from the Indian contingent in the recent series.
Zimbabwean players also saw some movement despite the series outcome. Ryan Burl rose six spots to equal 85th among T20I batters. Additionally, tall pacer Blessing Muzarabani advanced 10 rungs to 26th in the T20I bowlers’ rankings.
Updates in ODI and Test Rankings
The latest ODI rankings also saw changes, with Shubman Gill reclaiming the No. 1 position among batters. This occurred following the completion of the recent series between the West Indies and New Zealand, as the absence of Black Caps’ right-hander Daryl Mitchell allowed Gill to move back to the top spot. Mitchell had held the top billing since January.
In the ODI bowling category, Namibia spinner Bernard Scholtz made a notable move, rising five places to seventh overall. This was a result of his efforts for his side during their ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup League 2 tri-series against Nepal and the Netherlands in Utrecht.
The Test rankings also reflected recent performances. Justin Greaves’ display in Trinidad during the first ICC World Test Championship fixture between the West Indies and Pakistan was acknowledged. The right-armer gained 21 places to improve to 48th for Test bowlers and rose eight rungs to ninth for all-rounders after completing five consecutive wicket maidens.
Greaves’ teammate, Jayden Seales, also made gains on the rankings for Test bowlers, moving up five slots to 24th. Pakistan quick Mohammad Abbas climbed nine spots to 17th. Among Test batters, Babar Azam was a significant improver, moving up four rungs to 15th after his 32nd Test half-century in the second innings of the Test.
