The SSC GD Constable exam, a crucial opportunity for aspiring candidates, has experienced a significant shift in its schedule. Originally set to commence on February 23, 2026, the exam has been postponed, now slated to take place in four phases from April 27 to May 30, 2026. This change impacts over 25,000 vacancies announced for the recruitment.

In a bid to accommodate candidates, the Staff Selection Commission (SSC) has allowed them to select their preferred exam week between April 11 and April 15, 2026. This flexibility aims to ease the preparation process for many who have been eagerly awaiting this exam.

The SSC GD exam format remains unchanged, consisting of objective-type questions that cover General Intelligence, General Knowledge, Elementary Mathematics, and English or Hindi. Candidates will need to navigate multiple stages, including a Computer-Based Test (CBT), a Physical Efficiency Test (PET), and a Medical Examination, to qualify for the positions.

Admit cards for the exam will be released approximately 3 to 5 days before the exam date, while city intimation slips will be available 7 to 10 days prior. Candidates can self-book their exam slots, although they cannot choose the exact date or city for their examination.

The exam will be conducted across multiple centres nationwide, ensuring accessibility for candidates from various regions. The four distinct windows for the exam are set as follows: April 27 to May 2, May 4 to May 9, May 18 to May 23, and May 25 to May 30, 2026.

Despite these updates, uncertainties remain. The exact new exam date is yet to be announced, and specific details regarding the exam pattern and shift timings for 2026 are not confirmed. Candidates are advised to stay tuned for further announcements from the SSC.
