In a significant development for Indian football, FanCode has been named the exclusive digital home for the Indian Super League (ISL) for the 2025-26 season. This announcement comes amid a competitive bidding process, with Genius Sports making a staggering bid of ₹2,129 crore for a 20-year cycle linked to the league.

FanCode, on the other hand, has submitted a more modest bid of ₹36 crore annually, which includes a 5 percent year-on-year increment. This stark contrast in financial commitment highlights the varying strategies of the two companies as they vie for the lucrative commercial rights.

The All India Football Federation (AIFF) opened bids for the commercial rights of its club competitions, which encompass not only the ISL but also the Federation Cup, Indian Women’s League, and IWL 2. The successful bidder will enjoy the right of first refusal, a significant advantage in the competitive sports media landscape.

The agreement stipulates a 5 percent annual increment, which may provide a buffer against inflation and market fluctuations. Previously, the AIFF received a fixed ₹50 crore annually from its last commercial rights agreement, indicating a potential increase in revenue with the new bids.

For the upcoming ISL 2025-26 season, there will be a total of 91 matches featuring 14 clubs, making it a highly anticipated event for fans and stakeholders alike. AIFF Deputy General Secretary M. Satyanarayan expressed gratitude to the ISL clubs and Ex-Co members for their support in unveiling the Request for Proposal (RFP), emphasizing the collaborative effort involved.

Historically, the AIFF has faced challenges in attracting bidders, leading to a commercial deadlock that delayed the start of the ISL 2025-26 season. This current bidding war marks a pivotal moment in the league’s evolution, as it seeks to secure a financially viable future.

As the bids are evaluated, observers are keenly watching to see how this competition unfolds and what it means for the future of football in India. The outcome could reshape the landscape of sports broadcasting in the country.

Details remain unconfirmed regarding the final decision on the bids, but the stakes are undeniably high for both FanCode and Genius Sports as they navigate this critical juncture in Indian sports media.
