“Do not ruin your life by falling into the trap of betting,” cautioned the Hyderabad Police, as they ramp up efforts to combat illegal betting activities during the IPL season.
As the excitement of the IPL 2026 unfolds, Hyderabad Police have issued a stern warning against betting syndicates that are resurfacing in new forms, despite previous bans on betting apps. V.C. Sajjanar, the police commissioner, emphasized the need for vigilance, stating, “We will take strict action against social media influencers who promote these dangerous apps just for money.”
The police are closely monitoring both online operations and offline betting networks, particularly as local bookies target youth, pushing them into debt. “Do not put your family’s future at risk,” Sajjanar added, urging citizens to stay away from these traps.
Fraudsters are increasingly using platforms like Telegram, WhatsApp, and Instagram to lure unsuspecting users into betting scams. The police have reiterated that strict action will be taken against anyone involved in online and offline gambling activities.
In a proactive approach, the Hyderabad Police have encouraged citizens to report any suspicious betting activity through Dial 100 or the police WhatsApp number, 94906 16555. “If you know anyone involved in betting, please report it immediately,” Sajjanar urged.
Despite the government’s previous efforts to ban hundreds of betting apps, illegal activities continue to thrive, leading to heavy debts and potential family destruction. The police are determined to tackle this issue head-on, reinforcing their commitment to safeguarding the community.
As the IPL season progresses, betting apps like Parimatch are enticing users with offers such as a 1000% welcome bonus up to ₹70,000, further complicating the situation. Stake and Betvibe are also popular among bettors, with various attractive bonuses that could draw in more participants.
With the stakes high and the risks even higher, the Hyderabad Police’s message is clear: stay away from betting apps and protect your future.
