The ongoing case of Ashok Kharat, a self-styled godman and astrologer, has taken a troubling turn as new allegations surface. With the police filing two additional rape FIRs against him, the stakes have never been higher for the victims and the community at large.
Kharat, who allegedly used plastic snakes and tiger skins to intimidate his victims, is now facing serious accusations of being involved in five instances of human sacrifice. The Nashik District Sessions Court has remanded him to five days of police custody, allowing investigators to delve deeper into his activities.
According to the prosecution, Kharat’s operations have unearthed assets worth approximately ₹40 crore, raising questions about the extent of his illicit activities. Investigators have also revealed that Kharat has traveled to 13 different countries, which adds an international dimension to the case.
In a shocking discovery, the Special Investigation Team (SIT) recovered a revolver, 21 cartridges, and ₹6 lakh in cash from Kharat’s possession. This evidence suggests a well-organized operation that extends beyond mere astrology and into the realm of serious crime.
Victims of Kharat have reported experiencing nausea after consuming substances he provided, indicating the potential for drug-related offenses. Furthermore, a pen drive containing videos of Kharat’s victims is under investigation, which could reveal more about his predatory behavior.
Trupti Desai, a prominent activist, has been vocal about the case, stating, “Ashok Kharat is a pervert. This perversion is eating away at the fabric of Maharashtra.” She has called for justice and emphasized that no one should be above the law, saying, “If we commit a crime, we are taken into custody, so he should not be protected.”
Public Prosecutor Ajay Misar has also raised concerns, suggesting that Kharat could be involved in human sacrifice and illegal hunting for skins and musk. Kharat, however, has denied any knowledge of the alleged snakes and tigers, claiming, “I have no knowledge of snakes or tigers, I am hearing it for the first time.”
As the investigation unfolds, the number of women who have suffered injustice at Kharat’s hands is estimated to be around 1,500, highlighting the widespread impact of his alleged crimes. The community is left grappling with the implications of these revelations.
Details remain unconfirmed regarding the full extent of Kharat’s operations and the potential involvement of others. The case continues to develop, and further updates are expected as authorities work to bring justice to the victims.
